Brexit backer Nigel Farage is heading to Washington

Nigel Farage, the outspoken Brexit backer, will travel to Washington in December to meet again with Donald Trump’s transition team, it was reported Thursday.

Farage, the outgoing interim leader of the UK Independence Party, continues to foster a friendship with Trump that has irked British Prime Minister Theresa May, who has yet to meet the President-elect.

Farage already paid a congratulatory visit to Trump on Nov. 12, shortly after the Election Day stunner Trump predicted would be “Brexit plus, plus, plus.”

Trump later tweeted that Farage would do a “great job” as Great Britain’s ambassador to the US.

But the British government quickly rejected Trump’s recommendation saying there was “no vacancy.”

The visit comes as Farage is planning a permanent move to the US with his wife Kirsten to feel “freer.”

Farage will travel with the same group that met with Trump’s team earlier this month, including Arron Banks, a deep-pocketed backer of Brexit.

The Trump and Farage relationship has continued to grow since Farage campaigned with Trump in Mississippi in August.

“They are in constant contact,” one friend told the Telegraph.

Farage has played the role of unofficial intermediary between the US and the UK.

“Don’t underestimate this guy,” Farage told CNBC after his Trump Tower meeting this month. “He’s made a big, big success of his business career. And he intends to be a successful president, and I think he may well be.”
