Judgement. Art by Yoshi Yoshitani, from the Tarot of the Divine.

Sun Wukong, The Monkey King
China, Chinese Mythology

Judgement is the reckoning, an ending before the start of a new journey. Past actions and decisions determine future events. If you haven’t learned your lessons, you are doomed to repeat your mistakes over and over.

Upright: Improvement, forgiveness, a change of perspective, absolution, rebirth
Reversed: Oppression, lack of self-awareness, failure, repeated mistakes, self-loathing

From the artist:

“Judgement is the penultimate card, it’s about the reckoning before the ending, before the start of a new journey. Your past actions and inactions will determine where you go next. It asks if you have learned your lessons from past mistakes. It actually can be a pretty positive card. For this I portrayed Sun Wukong, the Monkey King from journey to the west, after he has finished his journey and approaches Buddha once again. Previously, he was too arrogant and cocky, and wasn’t being true to himself. After being imprisoned and taking a long journey of adventures and self discovery with a few friends, he is ready once again for judgement. You can’t escape judgement (as Wukong discovered earlier) so you best learn from it!“ — Yoshi Yoshitani
