Ligustrum lucidum 'Excelsum Superbum' is a small, semi-evergreen tree. Get a Chinese privet tree today! It has a rounded habit and ovate, bright green, glossy leaves with a yellow-margin. 20cm panicles of creamy white flowers also appear in late summer to early autumn.

Ligustrum lucidum commonly forms dense thickets in fields or in the understory of forests. It shades and out-competes many native species, and once established, is very difficult to remove.

japonicum is not nearly as invasive as L. lucidum, especially in our Texas woods. Even though leaf size is an easy characteristic between distinguishing between the two, small leaved L. lucidum specimens are often misidentified.

Introduction. This fast-growing evergreen tree, 25 to 40 feet in height (can grow larger) with a 25 to 35 foot spread, has a dense canopy of bending branches composed of large, four to six-inch-long, glossy green leaves which have narrow, translucent margins.
