The Centre Area Transportation Authority will reinstate Sunday service on several bus routes and CATA Ride paratransit service beginning May 8.

The return of Sunday service comes in conjunction with the start of CATA’s regular reduced service schedule on Monday, May 2. Reduced service is typically in place from May through August each year.

Sunday service on the CATA Bus system will be available from approximately 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on three routes: the NV route serving Toftrees, Vairo Boulevard, Martin Street, Aaron Drive, Havershire Boulevard and College Avenue; the RP route serving Waupelani Drive, Southgate Drive, Pugh Street and Atherton Street; and the new College Avenue Connector serving East College Avenue between downtown State College and the Nittany Mall, which will begin service on May 8.

Sunday CATA Ride service will operate from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. in State College and College, Ferguson, Harris and Patton townships.

All rides on CATA Bus and CATA Ride will be free on May 8, “as a thank you to riders and a welcome back to Sunday service,” according to a news release.

CATA also announced on Wednesday that the 50% discount on OnePasses and Youth Passes has been extended through the end of July.

OnePasses and Youth Passes (for anyone under the age of 18) are available in increments of one to 12 months and are normally available for purchase from CATA’s Customer Service Center, 108 E. Beaver Ave., for $86 and $26 per month, respectively. During the discount period, they are $43 and $13 per month.

Passes may be used for fare on both CATA Bus fixed-route and CATA Go microtransit service (currently available in Bellefonte, Pleasant Gap and Boalsburg) and can be used an unlimited number of times.

For information about service and passes, contact CATA’s Customer Service Center at (814) 238-2282.
