To prevent cakes, pies and tarts from sticking to baking tins or dishes, it is important to grease the containers properly. The tin or dish must by coated with a very thin layer of oil or melted butter. If there is too much oil in the dish, it may cause a soggy or oily crust.
1 Dip a piece of crumpled kitchen towel or toilet paper in sunflower oil or melted butter, so that it just coats the bottom.
2 Rub the base and sides of the tin or dish with the paper, so that the entire inside is coated with a very thin layer of oil.
