The classification of this plant, along with almost all other 'Echinodorus' grown in the aquarium hobby, has recently been revised - these plants now belong to the new 'Aquarius' genus.

Aquarius uruguayensis, commonly known as Echinodorus Uruguayensis, is a beautiful and versatile plant that can be a great addition to any aquarium. This plant has a bright green colouration and long, narrow leaves that are strongly veined and slightly transparent. With the right conditions, new leaves can have a reddish tint, adding some colour variation to your aquarium.

One of the great features of this plant is its ability to grow a tight rosette of upright-growing leaves. It is quite a unique Aquarius species, and often times more resembles an Aponogeton species than some of the other types of Aquarius. It can be a bushy plant, and can fill out the background of a tank nicely. The Uruguayensis Sword is a medium to large-sized plant and can grow up to 40 cm tall, so make sure you have enough space in your tank before adding it.

Like most Echinodorus plants, the Uruguayensis Sword is relatively easy to care for. It prefers moderate to high lighting and a nutrient-rich substrate, but it can tolerate a wide range of water conditions. It's a fast grower, which means it can quickly fill out the tank, and it's also a great plant for providing oxygen to the aquarium.

Aquarius uruguayensis is a great plant that can add an interesting look to your aquarium with its bright green colouration, unique leaf structure, and versatile growth habit.
