Leccino olives originate from Italy, with references as far back as the Middle Ages. It is one of the primary cultivars used in Italian olive oil production. The fruits are suitable for brining or making olive oil.

Olives are evergreen and will keep their leaves through the winter.

Leccino olives are only hardy to Zone 8, so may need special attention in our region. Locate your trees where they will be protected from winter winds and cold. If grown in pots, it's easy to move them to a protected location. Plan to possibly use Christmas lights to keep the trees warm, or if they are still ripening fruit into winter.
