Hydrocotyle maritima
is a perennial plant inhabiting damp fields, roadsides, or paths
between paddies. Stems, slender, sparsely branch, crawl on the
ground, emerge fibrous roots at nodes, and the upper parts of the
stems extend obliquely upward. Leaves are in a kidney-shaped
orbicular shape, 2-3cm in diameter, cleft in five, with bases
cordate and margins with obtuse serrations on margins. Axils emerge
shorter-than-the-leaf's-height peduncles and set ten or more small
greenish flowers gathering together on the tips. Bloom time:
June-October. |
