Default Something to share. marimo ball (Cladophora aegagrophila)

The bigger 1 is the usual ones found in LFS. The much smaller ones(probably 1 -2 cm in diameter only) are from Japan.

sorry for the lousy pictures.

i'll upload better quality pictures if i can get hold of a good camera.

there is in fact a slight difference in appearance compared to the normal ones found in LFS.

it sure looks like father and childrens! haha..
anyway, marimo can be propagated by tearing the big ones apart.. then let the teared up one form to ball shape.. but i guess that will take a long long time =)

saw once in SG at takashimaya. it is in a cute bottle .

but now no longer see it liao. actually wanna show the difference between the small ones and the big one. but cannot manage to take very detailed pictures.

actually the smaller ones the "texture" is like longer dan the normal 1 we see which is like "short fur" one.

i read from the net and it says it prefers cooler temperature. low lighting is good enough. will be healthy as long as it has got clean water.

i have it for quite some time. seems like it doesn't need much attention.
